Cape Verde Goalkeeper Vozinha, Who Became a World Cup Legend, Found a New Club

Cape Verde national team goalkeeper Vozinha, who became famous at the World Cup, has become a player for one of Chile's biggest clubs — Colo-Colo. This was reported by journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano on the social network X.
An oral agreement on the transfer of the Cape Verdean goalkeeper has already been reached. The documents still need to be signed. As the insider notes, this should happen over the weekend, after which Vozinha will undergo a medical examination. The goalkeeper himself is already ready for a new stage in his career in Chile.
Earlier, it was reported that Colo-Colo held negotiations with the 40-year-old goalkeeper at the initiative of club president Aníbal Mosa. Before the Chilean club, the main contender for the footballer was American Inter Miami, for which Argentine forward Lionel Messi plays, writes Championat.com.
Vozinha played four matches at the 2026 World Cup, in two of which he kept a clean sheet. His contract with Portuguese Chaves, which plays in the second division, expired this summer, and the club did not want to extend it.
Josimar José Évora Dias (nickname Vozinha means 'grandmother', 'grandson of grandmother') also played for Chișinău's Zimbru, Cypriot AEL Limassol, Slovak Trenčín, Portuguese Gil Vicente.
The Cape Verde national team participated in the final stage of the World Cup for the first time in its history and finished its performance at the 1/16 final stage, losing to the Argentina national team with a score of 2:3.
The International Sports Press Association included Vozinha in the top ten best footballers of the World Cup, placing him seventh between Rodri and Harry Kane. First place went to Lionel Messi.
