In Minsk, a 'black realtor' who tried to seize an alcoholic's apartment was arrested

According to law enforcement, over two months, the suspect purposefully gained the trust of the homeowner. The man had alcohol problems, which, it is alleged, the perpetrator took advantage of.

Initially, he introduced himself as a realtor and claimed that he had allegedly received information about an apartment with utility payment arrears from law enforcement. To gain the owner's trust, he helped him pay for housing and communal services and gave him small sums of money, creating an impression of care.

On the eve of the deal's finalization, the apartment owner learned that instead of the promised one-room apartment in Minsk and a cash payment, he was offered to move to a settlement approximately 50 kilometers from the capital. After this, the man refused to sell his home.

Then the suspect, according to the investigation, moved from persuasion to threats and physical violence. He beat the victim and forced him to write a promissory note about an alleged large debt.

After the detention, investigators opened a criminal case under the article on extortion with the aim of obtaining property benefits on a particularly large scale. According to the law, the sanction of this article provides for punishment of up to 15 years of imprisonment.
