Ten years after the building was sold to a Chinese investor, the property has reappeared on the electronic auction platform "BUTB-Property". The initial price is 9 million rubles, writes Office Life.
Hotel "Grodno" along with the restaurant of the same name in a single complex was built in 1985. The sixteen-story building was designed to accommodate 500 guests. However, after about twenty years, the complex was closed as it no longer met modern safety requirements.
In 2016, a Chinese investor acquired the building, planning to carry out a large-scale reconstruction and open a modern hotel. According to the terms of sale, he was given four years to complete all works. However, the project was not completed within the specified timeframe, and the reconstruction was delayed.
In February 2024, it was reported that the reconstruction deadline had been extended until the end of 2024. At that time, the Chinese businessman continued to work on the project and did not abandon his obligations. Vladimir Karanik, then chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, noted that a new investor might be found if the project failed.
Now the property is again put up for auction, scheduled for July 18. The conditions for the new owner have almost not changed compared to those that were in effect ten years ago. The buyer must develop a reconstruction project within one year, and complete the works themselves no later than three years.
