«Welcome from here». A Russian was offered a job in Minsk for 4000 rubles, but this seemed too little to him
Belarusians explained what was wrong with this.

St. Petersburg resident Yauhen Kartamyshau wrote a post on Threads for Russians moving to Minsk, noted «Salidarnasts».
«Yesterday I was offered a job with a salary of 4000 BYN. They say that for Minsk this is a very good salary, but let's calculate:
2150 — apartment rent,
250 — utility bills;
100 — kindergarten for one child;
100 — kindergarten for the second child.
It turns out 4000 — 2600 = 1400 BYN.
Don't deny yourself anything. So, think about whether it's worth looking for a job in Minsk or not».
The post gathered over a thousand comments.
«Give a Belarusian a salary of 4000 — he will be the master of the world»
«Welcome from here!», «That's right! A terrible salary, hurry home», — users of Threads wrote to the author of the post.
Most Belarusians asked what kind of job the Russian was offered such a salary for. He explained that the vacancy was for a project manager in a workshop.
«In my city, there's a salary of 800 rubles; 4000 here is just a dream for people», — they wrote to him.
«And you try to live on 1500. 1500 is considered a good salary».
«Give a Belarusian a salary of 4000, he will be the master of the world, buy an apartment, a garage for his B5 and potatoes. In summer, the standard Egypt with his wife. But many don't have such salaries».
«Welcome to reality. 4000 — be happy that you were offered it. In Minsk, 3000 is already a chic salary. And renting an apartment here is not a cheap pleasure».
A Russian was sent to a collective farm: «Everything will be many times cheaper!»
«Why to Minsk? Go to an agrotown — there's plenty of work, and they'll give you a house virtually for free. We live in an agrotown, and we were given a house for our family. The collective farm specifically builds houses for workers. Three rooms, a kitchen, without furniture though. We've been living here for a year. We only pay utilities. 5 children. Kindergarten, school nearby, there are many such towns. I work at school, my husband on a farm. We are from Moscow ourselves».
«Jokes aside — go to a collective farm, get a job as a machine operator, earn 5000‑6000 in season, 4000‑4500 in winter. You get a private house to live in virtually for free! Free kindergarten, school, vacation assistance, and even a food package from the enterprise. Life gets better! Don't go to Minsk, and everything will be many times cheaper! Prices are inflated in the capital, including thanks to Russians».
One of the Thread users objected that such salaries don't exist in farms: 1000 — in winter, 4000 — in summer.
How to survive on 13 rubles a day — a Belarusian shared her experience
A Belarusian woman wrote that her net salary is 2700 rubles; she pays 1900 for a loan for a new apartment, utilities — 150, internet — 50. In addition, the girl has another loan, for which she pays 200 rubles monthly. In total, 400 rubles remain for food — for one person with a cat.
«This is how Belarusians live. I'll pay off the apartment, buy a car on credit», — she shared. According to the girl, she eats little healthy food: «Buckwheat, pasta, chicken. Cucumbers, cabbage. Lots of buns and pancakes. In the new apartment, I started baking a lot: casseroles, muffins, pies».
The Russian was surprised how one could survive on 13 rubles a day. The Belarusian woman explained: «Yes, but not per day. I shop for approximately 60 rubles a week. I buy some small things throughout the week. I cook myself. No canteens or restaurants, I've never drunk coffee in my life. Everything is very strict».
Comments also expressed surprise at the price of housing rent in Minsk. The author of the post explained that he found such offers on Kufar.
«Demand creates supply, — one of the commentators reflects. — Such housing prices exist only because there are still more people with money than those who rent out apartments. And with the influx of relocators, especially from the top 3 Russian cities, the situation will only get worse. Because with Moscow or St. Petersburg salaries from remote work, one can live very, very comfortably in Minsk, living large. Hence the situation in the housing market».
Accusations also poured in against the author of the post, claiming that it was because of them, the Russians, that rent in Minsk was 2150 rubles instead of 1000.
«You came with your prices to Georgia, raised rent prices there. Now you've come with your prices to Belarus, also raised rent prices. If you are willing to pay $500-800 for rent, it doesn't mean that locals with a salary of $600, who live on rent, can pay that much. You'd better stay at home and don't spoil people's lives. And yes, here 4000 rubles is considered big money; many receive this money over 2-3 months».
But not everyone agrees with this:
«Stop writing that 4000 rubles is a good salary. The salary is «good» against a background of low salaries and a low standard of living. Many have half that, but it's not enough for living. Total poverty».

4К долларов, конечно. Хочешь "кіраўніком праекта ў цэху" - ну да, будет в рублях. Можно еще санитаркой в больницу и жаловаться, что на хатку в минск-мире не хапае.
