According to the American side, 55 commercial vessels passed through the strait in 24 hours, transporting more than 17 million barrels of oil to world markets. The US noted that it continues to ensure freedom of navigation in the region and monitor compliance with agreements reached with Iran.
It is also reported that the Combined Maritime Forces confirmed the safe passage of vessels along designated routes.
At the same time, the Iranian military command reiterated on June 20 its closure of the Strait of Hormuz, explaining this by alleged violations of agreements by the US and Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon.
In addition, US President Donald Trump stated that Washington could impose additional fees on vessels using the Strait of Hormuz if peaceful negotiations with Iran do not yield results. According to him, such payments could be considered compensation for guaranteeing the security of navigation in the region.
