A 19-year-old law student detained in Minsk. He was a scammer's courier and came from Russia
The young man decided to improve his financial situation and started working as a courier for phone scammers.
In early June, he was "dispatched" to Belarus. Upon arriving in Minsk, he retrieved 10 thousand dollars from a stash in a forest park area in the Frunzensky district, following the curator's instructions. It is known that another victim of scammers placed them there under the guise of declaration.
The young man was detained, and a criminal case was initiated against him.
— The accused is a first-year student of the Moscow Law Academy, previously not brought to criminal liability, — commented Andrey Siarbun, Deputy Prosecutor of the Frunzensky district.
— He is charged with committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code (acquisition of property by deception and abuse of trust (fraud), committed by a group of persons and on a large scale). He refused to state his attitude towards the charges and give testimony. The damage to the victim was compensated by the parents of the accused. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was authorized against him.
