As a result, he will receive about 6000 euros in compensation.

Belarusian Siarhei Danilevich moved to Moscow in the late 1990s. He worked in the construction sector, serving as deputy general director in a construction company.

On July 6, 2017, Danilevich was arrested in Neftekamsk — a city in Bashkortostan. A criminal case was opened against him under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — illegal acquisition and storage of drugs in a large amount. Danilevich himself claimed that the drugs were planted on him by police officers.

The Belarusian spent 2 years, 4 months, and 11 days in pre-trial detention.

During this time, the court twice found him guilty — in May 2018, he was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in a penal colony; in May 2019, to 3 years — but both sentences were overturned by the Supreme Court of Bashkortostan, which returned the case for a new review.

Danilevich was finally acquitted in September 2020 — it was stated that no crime had been committed at all.

Several years later, the Belarusian filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Finance of Russia, demanding compensation for moral damages. The Neftekamsk City Court awarded him about 6000 euros in compensation. Both sides disagreed with this amount: the Belarusian requested a larger sum, while the Ministry of Finance requested a smaller one.

In his complaint, Danilevich described the conditions of detention in the temporary detention facility in Neftekamsk, where he was transported for investigative actions: a basement cell, without water or a toilet, without ventilation or daylight, with windows that could not be opened. He stated that after his imprisonment, he suffers from constant headaches, insomnia, and high blood pressure, and his ex-wife does not allow him to see their child.

Danilevich also linked the breakdown of his family to the criminal prosecution. The court, however, disagreed with this: according to the decision, the marriage had effectively ceased in October 2016 — before his detention — and the divorce was finalized in 2018.

On September 18, 2025, the Supreme Court of Bashkortostan rejected both appeals and left the amount unchanged. The Belarusian received 6000 euros.
