Russians attacked two Ukrainian search and rescue vessels

Russian troops attacked two civilian search and rescue vessels in the Black Sea, which were performing a humanitarian mission within the Ukrainian maritime corridor. This was announced by Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Oleksiy Kuleba, writes RBC-Ukraine.

As a result of the shelling, there are casualties. Their evacuation is being carried out by boats of the Naval Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian side, vessels of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service, which were used for humanitarian tasks, came under attack. Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized that in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, such search and rescue vessels enjoy special protection and should not be objects of attack.

Ukrainian authorities regarded this incident as another violation of international law and a threat to the safe operation of humanitarian maritime corridors in the Black Sea.

The operation to evacuate the injured and clarify all circumstances of the attack is currently ongoing.
