In Grodno, a new sculpture - Saint Hubert's deer - was solemnly unveiled during the XV Republican Festival of National Cultures. The new art object has replenished the collection of urban sculptures and installations, reports "Grodno Pravda".

The image of the deer is connected with the ancient legend of Saint Hubert. According to legend, during a hunt, the French Duke Hubert saw a deer with a golden cross shining between its antlers. This event changed his life: he renounced wealth, became a priest, and was later canonized. Since then, the deer with the golden cross has been considered a symbol of spiritual rebirth.
This very image became the basis of Grodno's coat of arms. A monument to Saint Hubert himself was installed in the city back in 2020.

Oleg Belinsky, Chairman of the Grodno City Council of Deputies, announced that the authorities plan to install several more similar sculptures near iconic locations in Grodno. According to local authorities, this should make the city even more attractive for residents and tourists on the eve of Grodno's 900th anniversary, which will be celebrated in two years.
