According to preliminary estimates, people will be able to return to their apartments approximately one day after the completion of the necessary work.
Rescuers are conducting door-to-door checks, and psychological service specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are providing assistance to residents as needed.
A meeting of the commission for emergency situations was held at the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. Specialized services organized work to clear approaches to the scene, strengthen the soil, backfill, and prepare for the laying of concrete slabs. Constant monitoring of the residential building's foundation status is also underway.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the incident was caused by heavy rainfall. As a result of oversaturation, soil subsidence occurred in an area where earthworks had previously been carried out for laying a polyethylene sewage pipe.
Emergency and utility services, specialists, and special equipment continue to work on site. The situation is under the control of local authorities and rescuers.
