Number of Belarusians in Lithuania with Temporary Residence Permits Continues to Decrease
Since the beginning of the year, their number has decreased by 1360 people.

The number of Belarusians in Lithuania continues to decrease. Since the beginning of 2026, the number of Belarusians with Temporary Residence Permits has decreased from 50,286 to 48,926 people, writes «Volna» with reference to data from the Migration Department.
Let us recall that at its peak, 62,844 citizens of Belarus held Lithuanian Temporary Residence Permits (of all types). This was the case according to official data from the Lithuanian Migration Department on April 1, 2024. Until then, the number of Belarusians in Lithuania with valid Temporary Residence Permits had been constantly growing.
In 2023, the increase was slightly over 13,000 people, and 2022 was the peak year, when almost 18,000 citizens of Belarus with Temporary Residence Permits were added in Lithuania. In 2021, 7,600 Belarusians were added.
And then the decrease began, with the largest outflow of Belarusians occurring from April 1, 2024, to April 1, 2025 — 9,105 people, or 15 percent.
Ukrainians remain the largest group of foreigners in Lithuania. As of June 1, there were 78,141 citizens of Ukraine in the country, which is slightly more than before. The total number of foreigners with valid residence permits in Lithuania increased from 218,227 to 220,429 people within a month.
Since the beginning of the year, the number of citizens from Uzbekistan has significantly increased — to 11,556 people, India — to 8,746, Tajikistan — to 7,151, and the Philippines — to 4,388 people.
Among work permits, Belarusians and Ukrainians remain leaders, but they are followed by citizens from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and India. Among student permits, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Belarus, and Morocco are in the lead.
