"A certain misunderstanding." Tsikhanouskaya's office denied information that political prisoner releases "have been postponed for some time"
Information that the release of political prisoners "has been postponed for some time" at the initiative of the American side does not correspond to reality. This was stated by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's diplomatic adviser Dzianis Kuchynski in a comment to the publication "Zerkalo".

"We maintain constant contact with our American partners; last week I spoke with the White House and the State Department, and yesterday I communicated with Mr. Cole. I can confirm that the American administration is not stopping its work on the issue of releasing Belarusian political prisoners. The American humanitarian-diplomatic track continues and has not stopped," Kuchynski stated.
He added that, like in previous instances, these are not the simplest negotiations, so such a process always takes time. This was the case during previous releases; it's a normal part of the process.
"Regarding the latest comments, there appears to have been a certain misunderstanding in the interpretation. In fact, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was referring to communication concerning Mr. Cole's theoretical visit to Minsk in May. The discussion was not about the general negotiation track for the release of political prisoners and its future, but about a theoretical visit in two to three weeks, which Mr. Cole mentioned after Andrei Pachobut's release. However, he later informed that, according to his decision, he did not go. Therefore, that visit was focused on the work of Franklin Graham, who was able to visit Belarus and address Belarusians with his homily," said Kuchynski.
Tsikhanouskaya's adviser once again emphasized that the process of releasing political prisoners continues, the American humanitarian-diplomatic track is working, and the American administration continues to participate in these processes.
"We are very grateful to our American partners for their consistent work and support on this extremely important issue," Kuchynski added.
Earlier, Reuters agency reported that the leader of Belarusian democratic forces, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, noted in a comment to them that further releases of prisoners "have been postponed for some time." Tsikhanouskaya allegedly received this information from the administration of US President Donald Trump.
