"Shamelessly destroyed everything." Minsk resident in shock over flower vandals in the yard
In Minsk, people are actively tidying up the area around their homes. Some try hard and plant various flowers. Small flower gardens even turn out. For instance, on Shevchenko Boulevard, many were delighted by a giant bush of magnificent peonies. However, it was almost completely destroyed. Tochka.by journalists investigated the problem and found out what people think.

"Left nothing alive"
A Minsk resident published a post on Threads, in which she spoke about the pressing problem.
Probably out of resentment, she didn't mince words. The user wrote that she sends greetings to the "cattle" who, during the night, left nothing alive from the peony flowerbed.
The girl noted that the flower garden was simply trampled.
"We didn't cut flowers for ourselves so as not to spoil the beauty, but you shamelessly destroyed everything," she summarized.
The post caused a strong reaction. People shared their examples. Here are just some comments:
"I also got tired of fighting with vandals, at first I planted without a fence - they dug up absolutely everything: roses, tulips, hostas, petunias, lilies. We put up a beautiful wooden fence half a meter high, fenced it off, but everything was dug up again within a week."
"Near our office, a woman plants flowers. She told me: she noticed an old woman cutting flowers. She protested. The old woman shrieked: 'So what, is it yours or something?' Then she left. In the evening, she was seen at the nearest bus stop: sitting there, selling from a tray."
"Oh, how I love such flowerbeds near entrances. What a pity."
"For many years I grew flowers near the entrance... That's it! I don't want to anymore, let weeds grow. She stands there tearing my roses. To the question of what she's doing and why, she answers that it's her mother's birthday... Stolen for mother's birthday!!!"
When the flowerbed will have to be removed
The administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Minsk previously noted that flower gardens can sometimes hinder the work of utility services.
They emphasized that engineering networks often run under the lawn. If there is a need to carry out repairs or eliminate the consequences of an accident, utility services will have to dig up the ground — and the flowerbed, unfortunately, will suffer.
Therefore, specialists should advise where it is possible to plant and where it is not advisable. The authorities also clarified: if there is a desire to create a flower garden, one should contact the housing and communal services (ЖКГ) at their place of residence. In doing so, an approximate planting scheme should be brought along.
Specialists will inspect the plot, check for the presence of communications, and, if all is well, approve the planting. However, caring for the plants will fall to the proactive residents, not the employees of the housing maintenance department (ЖЭУ).
It is also forbidden to arrange flowerbeds using tires, plastic bottles, plant invasive species, or vegetable crops.
Nevertheless, utility services are not against residents' initiatives. A compromise can be found in each specific case. And most importantly — there will be no punishment for flowerbeds without cause.
