Macron's wife on her years as first lady: I saw the darkness of the world, stupidity, malice

France's First Lady Brigitte Macron admitted in an interview with La Tribune Dimanche that she sometimes feels sadder than ever before moving to the Élysée Palace with her husband.

"Before, I had a normal life, children, work, ups and downs, like everyone else. Here, these ten years have flown by so quickly... They were so intense. I saw the darkness of the world, stupidity, malice," said Emmanuel Macron's wife.

"I have moments of pessimism that I didn't have before," she noted.

In 2027, after Macron's two presidential terms, they will leave the Élysée Palace.

Brigitte, after facing online bullying (the reason being her appearance and age difference with her husband – Brigitte is 25 years older, she is 73 years old), shared that writing down her thoughts helps her greatly.

When, in 2024, the First Lady of France filed a complaint due to bullying (for being called a transgender person), she explained to investigators that these rumors had a very strong resonance for herself and her close circle.
