Anarchist Dzyadok spoke out against allowing abortions. However, he believes that a legislative ban will achieve nothing.
Anarchist and former political prisoner Mikalai Dziadok outlined his stance on abortions on social media. And received many angry comments.
The reason for Mikalai's post was that Belarus is planning to ban abortions in private medical centers. So Dziadok wrote that he is categorically against abortions:
«In fact, abortion is murder, no matter how you look at it. All theses in the spirit of 'no uterus — no opinion' or 'only a woman has the right to decide!' are pseudo-feminist nonsense.»
At the same time, Dziadok is also against a total ban on abortions:
«A legislative ban on abortions will not solve the situation. Because with such laws, the following happens: women with above-average incomes travel to another country and have an abortion there. Those with below-average incomes resort to backstreet abortions, which, in addition to being murder, also harms their health.
Comprehensive work is needed, first and foremost on the values of both women and men, to overcome abortion as a phenomenon. I understand many arguments of women who advocate for free abortions, as many as desired, however, I believe that no «difficult life situation» gives you the right to deprive another human being of life.»
These posts gathered dozens of comments. Dziadok was told that women should still be left with the right to choose, and if one doesn't want to have an abortion, there's always contraception — for example, condoms or vasectomy:
«I dream of a time when men will stop expressing their opinions on women's issues that do not concern them.»
«Go into science and work on inventing an artificial womb where all abortions can be transplanted. Then there will be no 'murders'.»
«Why do you think it's normal to take away a woman's right to choose, calling it a crime?»
Blogger Yauheniya Suhaki left a very short comment: «Who are you, remind me?»
Not only indignant women, but also men joined the comments. One such user wrote:
«If a public figure writes that he does not support a legislative ban on abortions — it means that he supports abortions and the ability of women to decide for themselves what to do in any given situation. But if you start a discussion not as a public figure, but for philosophical or religious reasons — that's an entirely different discussion.
What is bad and what is good — everyone has their own view, but first and foremost, it's always about a LEGISLATIVE ban. The choice is this: whether the state will decide, or the person themselves.»
Dziadok's statement that prostitution should be legalized in Belarus was also mentioned. What to do if an unwanted pregnancy occurs during sex work?
Mikalai's answer: «That's why I'm for legalization, so that there are no unwanted pregnancies during sex work.»
Media manager Maksim Parshuta also spoke out: «You can't ban abortions, because abortions are unlikely to decrease, but they will definitely be performed in conditions more dangerous for women. And in general, it's strange that a person is forbidden from doing what they want with themselves — that's even the primary point.»
«Don't be silly. If you personally give birth, then you'll be against it,» — Andrei Pavuk couldn't resist commenting.
Only a few people supported Dziadok.
A few days ago, Dziadok published another statement on Threads that became resonant — that post gathered about 250 comments:
«Belarus without Lukashenka will be the best country in the world. We will have legalized same-sex marriages, marijuana, prostitution. Visa-free travel with the European Union, freedom of speech, high salaries, anime festivals. And this will happen very soon.»
