“Belarusian Invasion”: 4,000 Belarusians Attend Lyapis Trubetskoy Show in Vilnius
Last Saturday around 4,000 Belarusians crossed the border with Lithuania to attend the show by Belarusian ska-punk band Lyapis Trubetskoy.
Lithuanian authorities did their utmost to let as many Belarusian citizens as possible watch the show. Thus, Lithuania issued a free visa for each person who purchased a ticket. The mob in Pramogu Arena in Vilnius was coloured with red and white — the colours of Belarus’ national but banned symbols.
Previously, Lyapis Trubetskoy cancelled two gigs in Russia as the musicians “celebrated” the launch of the new Rabkor LIVE tour with heavy drinking bout.
Lyapis Trubetskoy is blacklisted in Belarus for their song sharply critical of Lukashenka’s regime. The band hasn’t performed in Belarus since the spring of 2011.
