In Morocco, a woman led the government for the first time in history
King Mohammed VI of Morocco on September 29 appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as the country's Prime Minister. She became the first woman in Morocco's history to lead the government.

The appointment followed the parliamentary elections on September 23, in which the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), led by El Mansouri, won the most seats. The King's decision was announced by the royal court. El Mansouri was received by Mohammed VI at the royal palace, where she received the mandate to form a new government.
By profession, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri is a lawyer. Previously, she headed the Ministry of Housing, and prior to her appointment as Prime Minister, she was the mayor of Marrakech.
The new government will have to manage multi-billion dollar investments in projects related to Morocco hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Among the main tasks of the new cabinet are fighting inflation, raising salaries, and creating new jobs.
