Repeaters for guiding Russian drones are again operational in southern Belarus

In southern Belarus, along the border with Ukraine, some repeaters, which, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian military personnel use to guide drones, have again started working. This was stated in an interview with the British newspaper The Times by Oleh Ivashchenko, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to Oleh Ivashchenko, Russian military personnel can use an extensive network with a large number of towers and repeaters. Ukrainian intelligence has identified six such facilities in southern Belarus along the Ukrainian border. They reportedly allow video streams to be transmitted over long distances.

"For some time, they stopped deploying them, but now we see that some repeaters are working again. We have enough capabilities to deal with this," Ivashchenko emphasized.

The issue of repeaters arose back in June. On June 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demanded that Alexander Lukashenka remove the equipment for guiding Russian drones from the towers along the border with Ukraine within a week. He stated that otherwise, the Ukrainian side would do it independently.

The next day, Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine was aware of at least four such repeaters in the Gomel and Brest regions. On June 24, he stated that the equipment was not working at that time but did not know if it had been dismantled.

On June 30, the then Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Belarusian side had not dismantled the repeaters, but only temporarily turned them off. On July 1, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine also reported that the equipment on Belarusian territory had been switched off.
