Multi-child IT Specialist Father Ordered a Toy on a Marketplace and Received Home Confinement
The story of Minsk resident Nikolai — a father of four children and an IT specialist by profession — was told in an ONT TV report. The man became a suspect in a criminal case for illegal arms trafficking.
On a popular marketplace, Nikolai came across a "Bulldog Kurs" model revolver. The man was confident that he was buying a safe recreational item, especially since no documents or permits were required to place the order.
After picking up the item, the Minsk resident tested it several times in the forest. However, the man didn't like the purchase because the revolver turned out to be too loud.
It is not specified in the TV report how law enforcement learned about the acquisition, but Nikolai was detained and spent a whole year in a pre-trial detention center.
Experts from the State Forensic Examination Committee examined the design of the "Bulldog." It turned out that the Russian manufacturer resorted to a trick. A regular traumatic cartridge with gunpowder is combined with a ball. The trick of the "Bulldog" is that its cartridges and balls were separated. And supposedly, according to its characteristics, it was no longer a weapon, but a toy.
However, the Belarusian ballistic examination recognized the revolver as a traumatic firearm, the circulation of which is prohibited in Belarus, as the force of the shot poses a danger to human life.
Such actions are punishable by up to 7 years of imprisonment, and some buyers of "Bulldogs" have already received real sentences in a high-security penal colony, the report states. The court sentenced Nikolai to 5 years of home confinement.
