Sergeyenka: We fulfill all obligations for receiving workers from Uzbekistan
Belarus fulfills all its obligations for the reception and employment of labor migrants from Uzbekistan. This was stated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives, Igor Sergeyenka, during a working trip to Glubokoye District, where he familiarized himself with how the reception and accommodation of foreign workers are organized, writes BelTA.
According to Igor Sergeyenka, the country has the necessary legal framework regulating the issues of reception, employment, and stay of citizens from other states. In early July, Belarus and Uzbekistan signed an intergovernmental agreement that defines the procedure for selecting workers, their referral, registration, employment, and further control.
The first organized group of citizens from Uzbekistan has already arrived in Belarus. They will work in eight districts of the Vitebsk region, as well as in Vitebsk and Novopolotsk. They are mostly expected to be employed in agriculture, construction, and housing and communal services.
However, immediately after the arrival of the Uzbek workers, it turned out that the conditions they were actually offered significantly differed from those declared, which caused a conflict. Afterwards, it was possible to at least temporarily quell it by increasing wages and improving living conditions.
Nevertheless, Igor Sergeyenka completely denies the existence of any problems. He noted that local authorities allegedly organized all necessary procedures in a timely manner: they provided workers with housing, familiarized them with their workplaces, concluded employment contracts, organized medical examinations, and registration with internal affairs bodies. According to him, the Belarusian side has fully met all necessary conditions.
