68-year-old Electrician Accused of Dozens of Rapes in Berlin. Victims Didn't Even Know What Happened to Them

The Berlin prosecutor's office has filed official charges against a 68-year-old local electrician. Currently, 22 criminal cases involving 14 women have been initiated, but the investigation suggests that the total number of victims is at least 58 people. The victims themselves did not even suspect what had happened to them, reports BILD.

According to the indictment, the man met his victims through online platforms. During meetings, he drugged women with a mixture of sedatives and alcohol, raped them, and recorded what was happening on a video camera.

The victims were not even aware of the crimes – they were only informed of the committed violence during the investigation. This is reminiscent of the case of 73-year-old Frenchwoman Gisèle Pelicot, whose husband drugged her for years and allowed dozens of strangers to rape her while she slept.

Trail from Lower Saxony

The Berlin perpetrator was traced thanks to the help of the police from Lower Saxony. Early last year, officers investigated similar charges against another, already deceased, man who had been in contact with the rapist from Berlin.

After receiving the information, the police searched the electrician's apartment in the Berlin district of Friedrichsfelde and found various data storage devices.

The analysis of these devices proved to be a complex process. Only about a year later did digital forensics experts discover the horrific video recordings.

Subsequently, on March 3, 2026, a second search was conducted at the man's apartment, and he was taken into custody.

Dozens of Crimes

In addition to the 14 victims named in the indictment, authorities know the names of 30 more women, but investigations into their cases are still ongoing.

Ten alleged victims have not yet been identified. And 36 crimes will likely never be punished: the accused allegedly committed them against a woman between 2010 and 2014. Since the act of violence could not be unequivocally proven in her case, these crimes fell under a five-year statute of limitations instead of the usual 20 years.
