According to Belgidromet, thunderstorms are expected in most parts of the country today, with heavy downpours in places. In the southeast, the maximum air temperature will reach +31°C.

Fluctuations in atmospheric pressure and heat unfavorably affect well-being: concentration significantly decreases, reaction slows down, and lethargy, drowsiness, and dizziness are possible. This increases the risk of road accidents, the traffic police warns.

The traffic police strongly recommends drivers to monitor their well-being. Weather-sensitive people and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases should refrain from trips that are not caused by extreme necessity. Even healthy people are not recommended to spend prolonged periods behind the wheel. It is necessary to take drinking water and necessary medications on the road.

Pedestrians are recommended to avoid being outdoors during periods of highest solar activity, wear headwear and sunglasses. It is better to plan routes through parks or along the shady side of streets.

During thunderstorms and downpours, drivers need to reduce speed, increase distance, and turn on dipped headlights. If visibility deteriorates to zero, you should turn on hazard lights, carefully pull over to the roadside, and wait out the bad weather.

It is recommended not to leave the car under trees, advertising billboards, loosely secured structures, or in low-lying areas where water quickly accumulates. If the car is rapidly flooding, immediately leave it and seek safety.

During a thunderstorm, pedestrians need to stay away from isolated trees, power lines, and tall metal structures. You should cross the road only after making sure that drivers have noticed you and have time to stop.
