The chief editor of the Gomel district newspaper repented for accusing the band «Drazdy»

Victoria Futrina, chief editor of the Gomel District Executive Committee newspaper «Mayak», apologized for her rude remarks addressed to the band «Drazdy».

Previously, she called the band «Drazdy» traitors for the fact that «in 2020 the collective stood under the white-red-white flag, and as soon as it smelled of frying — they immediately changed their stance».

This angered vocalist Vital Karpanov, who posted the following message on his social media pages: «I was sent a video where one of the state media once again called the band «Drazdy» traitors… Meanwhile, 2700 spectators came to the concert of these "traitors" [in Maladzyechna] today! Colleagues, when will you stop living in a parallel reality? While we await an official apology from this media outlet, look at how ordinary Belarusians love these guys!»

Now Victoria Futrina offered the leader of «Drazdy» her apologies «for hasty and unjust conclusions», admitting that her words addressed to the collective «turned out to be not fully verified information, in essence — lies, and offended the artists», and that the musicians «are not involved in anything of the sort».

«Vital Uladzimiravich, first and foremost, I offer you my apologies for the hasty and unjust conclusions in my material. These are difficult times: it's hard to distinguish friend from foe, so the newspaper has to be 'toothy' (aggressive)», — the propagandist nervously justified herself.

Will Karpanov forgive her? Futrina asked.

«We forgive. I am absolutely not a resentful person. We don't shout, we don't make any pompous speeches, but simply do our beloved work for the benefit of our beloved country. And we will do everything for our two native languages to sound and unite people. The whole country must be together in these difficult times», — replied Vital Karpanov.

«My bitter example proves: it's better to think several times before accusing someone. «Drazdy» suffered for nothing, including because of my material, for which I once again offer them my apologies. I hope this interview will not only help restore their reputation but also change the opinion of someone as "well-read" as myself, including among representatives of other media», — Futrina summarized.

Victoria Futrina hails from Rechytsa. She finished school in 2013 and entered the Faculty of Law at Gomel State University named after F. Skaryna. An activist of the BRSM (Belarusian Republican Youth Union), in 2022 she joined the Gomel district newspaper «Mayak», and in August 2023 she became its chief editor.
