In May 2026, Russia imported 5.17 thousand tons of aviation fuel from Belarus, which is almost four times more than in the same period last year. In the first ten days of June, deliveries already amounted to 2.6 thousand tons, reports RBC.

According to analysts' estimates, about 11.4 million tons of aviation fuel were produced in Russia in 2025. About 1.4 million tons were supplied by the Moscow Oil Refinery, owned by Gazprom Neft.
In June, this enterprise was subjected to attacks by Ukrainian drones. According to reports from several media outlets citing sources, the plant was damaged and may not resume operations until the end of 2026.
On June 1, the Russian government for the first time introduced a temporary ban on the export of aviation fuel, explaining this by the need to ensure the stability of the domestic market.
Earlier, the Russian airline Azimuth announced a shortage of aviation fuel. According to its information, suppliers were forced to significantly reduce supply volumes due to force majeure situations at oil refineries, which led to a reduction in fuel supply on the market.
