In Grodno Zoo, an old wolf died after waiting for wolf cubs to replace him
Two new residents have appeared in Grodno Zoo — wolf cubs Chuk and Hek. Their arrival became a continuation of a touching story connected with the legendary local wolf Tsiaрlon, the zoo's press service writes .

Wolf cubs Chuk and Hek — new residents of Grodno Zoo
Back in 2009, a pair of wolves — Tsiaрlon and Petra — settled in the zoo. The animals lived together for many years in peace and abundance. However, a few years ago, Petra died at the age of 16, and Tsiaрlon was left alone.

Zoo staff began looking for new companions for him, but it was not easy. Although there are plenty of wolves in Belarus, agreements on transferring wolf cubs were constantly falling through for various reasons.
Meanwhile, Tsiaрlon was getting old. He began to see and hear worse, and he developed problems with his hind legs. Nevertheless, the old wolf remained strong enough and fed himself independently until the very end.
At the end of May, the opportunity finally arose to bring two wolf cubs to the zoo. But after all the necessary documents were processed, Tsiaрlon refused food for the first time in his life. The next day, zoo staff went to pick up the new residents, and the old wolf quietly passed away in the meantime.
The zoo considers this story special. They are convinced that Tsiaрlon supposedly waited specifically for these wolf cubs to pass on his place to them and leave behind a worthy replacement.
Now, in the enclosure where Tsiaрlon and Petra once lived, young wolves Chuk and Hek are settling in. The new inhabitants are already considered full members of the large family of Grodno Zoo.
