Experiment Visually Showed How Easy It Is to Deceive a Person Using Artificial Intelligence
Minsk police demonstrated an experiment showing how easily a person can be deceived with the help of artificial intelligence. It only took about half a minute of conversation with a volunteer participant.
The action took place at the beginning of Pobediteley Avenue. The girl spoke a few neutral phrases into the microphone about her day and an unusual feeling. Based on this, a police officer used AI to generate a message, allegedly from the girl, and sent it to her mother.
The text stated that "the daughter" was getting a manicure, her banking app wasn't working, and she asked to transfer 45 rubles to the master.
Soon after, the video showed a screenshot of the correspondence: the mother clarified the amount, then sent the money and confirmed the payment. After this, the girl called her mother and explained that it was all part of the experiment.
The police officer asked the woman if she had any doubts that it was really her daughter writing. The mother replied that she had no suspicions and completely believed the message.
At the end of the video, the police officer promised to return the money and advised the girl to have a preventative conversation with her mother to avoid similar situations.
