The name of another DFR colonel arrested by the KGB has become known. He told cellmates how he was tortured

In early 2024, "Nasha Niva" reported about mass arrests of officers of the Department of Financial Investigations (DFR) in Minsk and Minsk region. The anti-heroes of 2020 and 2021 fell under purges on suspicion of receiving bribes and exceeding official authority.

"Today you are a controller, [...] tomorrow — in prison," Lukashenka commented shortly after, referring to their criminal case.

For almost two years, nothing was known about the fate of these people, not even their names. Nasha Niva only recently learned the first name — it is DFR Colonel Aliaksandr Kiyko, former head of the city inter-district department No. 2 of the DFR department of the State Control Committee for Minsk region.

One of Nasha Niva's interlocutors sat with him in the same KGB pre-trial detention cell right at the start of the "Minsk DFR case."

After the publication of this story, we managed to confirm the name of another arrested DFR colonel who was held in the same place and at the same time — in early 2024 — with another interlocutor of Nasha Niva.

This person was in the same cell as Colonel Andrei Seuruk. His last known position was Head of the Minsk Inter-district Department of the DFR.

"Almost every KGB pre-trial detention cell at that time held a DFR officer. Seuruk denied his guilt and told me that none of them admitted guilt, except for one. It was probably Kiyko (according to our earlier publication, he started cooperating with the investigation — NN).

One evening, Seuruk was taken out and brought back, let's just say, not quite himself.

Then Andrei recounted that he was taken to the so-called "soft room" (a cell lined with soft material inside so the prisoner couldn't harm himself, it also doesn't let sounds through — NN), where he was hung from a hook in the ceiling by handcuffs and shocked. They demanded a confession, but he refused, and from that moment on, they began to torment him especially.

Sometimes, at night, they would burst into the cell every hour, order him to take off his underwear and squat. According to his words, once his heart stopped due to the torture right there in the 'soft room', they called an ambulance and resuscitated him," our interlocutor told us.

Andrei Seuruk was born in the urban settlement of Urechcha, Liuban district, in 1977. He has been with the DFR structure since 1996. He started as an inspector, and since 2012, he has been the head of the inter-regional department of the DFR under the State Control Committee.

Seuruk's wife, at the time of her husband's arrest, worked as a chief specialist in the Main Department of Justice of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

The couple has a son and a daughter.
