In Krasnodar, a Belarusian father of many children asked a Russian not to swear. But so unfortunately, he hit the back of his head against a trash can and died
A drunk Russian called the Belarusian "a devil" — and it began.
In Krasnodar, the court sentenced 47-year-old Belarusian Pavel Yankevich, who came to Russia for rotational work — to dismantle construction scaffolding at the airport. He was sentenced to 2 years and 11 months in a strict-regime penal colony for the death of a Russian man, with whom he had an argument at night near the workers' hotel.
On the night of the incident, the Belarusian woke up to shouts and swearing — the Russian Borisovsky was heavily drunk and roaring throughout the street. Yankevich came out and asked him to quiet down so that he wouldn't wake people before the workday.
He didn't listen, and then called the Belarusian "a devil." In response, Yankevich hit him in the face with his hand — Borisovsky lost his balance, fell, and hit the back of his head against a metal garbage container.
The examination showed that it was precisely the punch with the hand (and not the blow against the container) that caused bleeding under the cerebral membranes, which led to death a few hours later. Yankevich and his acquaintances tried to resuscitate the victim — they performed heart massage, artificial respiration, and called an ambulance, which took more than two hours to arrive. The person could not be saved.
Yankevich himself admitted his guilt only partially: he delivered the blow, but did not intend to cause severe bodily harm and did not think that a person could die from a single blow.
The court, however, classified the actions as intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, which by negligence led to death (Part 4, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Among the mitigating circumstances were Yankevich having three minor children, the immoral behavior of the deceased as the cause of the conflict, and the fact that the Belarusian provided aid to the victim.
