A 55-year-old villager was tidying up his deceased parents' house in April and found a shooting pen gun, as well as small-caliber cartridges.
He was fond of hunting, so the found items interested him. He did not hand them over to the police, but kept them for himself, though later, apparently, he did hand them over, BelTA reports.
According to the conclusion of the forensic ballistic examination, the found item is an atypical firearm — a shooting pen gun, which was manufactured in an improvised manner and is suitable for firing small-caliber cartridges. Five seized cartridges were industrially produced, suitable for firing, and are ammunition for rifled sporting and hunting firearms.
The criminal case was under investigation by the Byalynichy District Department of the Investigative Committee.
When referring the criminal case to court, the prosecutor left unchanged the previously applied measure of restraint against the accused, which was a non-departure undertaking and proper conduct.
The department reminded that, according to the note to Art. 295 of the Criminal Code, a person who voluntarily surrenders weapons and ammunition is exempt from criminal liability, with the exception of cases of their sale.
