At the Benyakoni border crossing point, Grodno customs officers stopped an attempt to import cold weapons into Belarus. A 47-year-old Volvo driver arriving from Lithuania was transporting a saber with a sheath, according to the State Customs Committee.
The man passed through the "red corridor", where he completed a passenger customs declaration for the temporary import of a vehicle and stated that he had no other goods subject to mandatory declaration.
However, during a vehicle inspection, customs officers found a saber with a sheath. An examination conducted by the Customs Laboratory confirmed that the discovered item belongs to the category of cold weapons.
As a result, the Grodno Regional Customs initiated administrative proceedings under Part 1 of Article 15.5 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses.
