Over 220,000 people evacuated in France and Spain due to forest fires

In France, evacuation was announced in seven cities near Bordeaux on Saturday night.

Authorities in both countries are forced to expand population evacuations due to forest fires that have not yet been brought under control. By Saturday morning, more than 60,000 people had been evacuated in Spain from the capital region and Avila province, BBC Russian reported, citing the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Due to the fires, the Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex — one of three antenna systems that allow NASA to communicate with spacecraft in orbit — has suspended operations.

In France, evacuation was announced in seven cities near Bordeaux on Saturday night.

The total number of people evacuated due to forest fires in France and Spain has exceeded 220,000.
