Specialists warn: another surge in ixodid tick activity is expected by the end of summer. This is linked to the appearance of a new generation — nymphs.
“Nymphs reach only 0.5—1 mm in length, making them very difficult to spot on the body. However, young individuals are in no way inferior to adult ticks in their ability to carry infections. Small size — big risk,” explained the sanitary and epidemiological service.
Experts also reminded of the main preventive measures: wear closed-toe clothing of light colors, avoid walking through high grass and thickets, stick to well-trodden paths, use protective repellents, and remember to check yourselves and your pets after returning from outdoors.
