A citizen of Belarus, a native of Vitebsk, was outraged by news about a migrant taxi driver who committed a shooting in the suburbs of St. Petersburg — where the Belarusian himself lives.
The man left a series of comments on VKontakte calling for the expulsion of migrants and hostile remarks against "people from Asia". The Belarusian wrote about the "age-old hostility" of migrants towards Russians.
In court, he fully admitted his guilt and explained his actions, stating that he wrote the comments while intoxicated, emotionally reacting to the fact that an Uzbek citizen had previously committed violence against his sister. He emphasized that he personally does not feel hatred towards people from the Caucasus and Asia and promised not to do it again.
The Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg found the Belarusian guilty under Article 20.3.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (actions aimed at inciting hatred and hostility) and imposed a fine of about $100.
