Ukraine's Defense Minister: Crimea Will Soon Turn into an Island

Ukraine's Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that Ukrainian forces are gradually isolating annexed Crimea from mainland Russia, primarily with the help of drones.

In an interview with the YouTube channel PRESSING, Mykhailo Fedorov noted that a peculiar "isolation of Crimea by drones" is currently underway.

“It looks like Crimea will soon turn into an island. And this could lead to very unexpected consequences for the Russians,” the minister stated.

Fedorov reported that Ukraine has significantly increased drone purchases. According to him, more drones were acquired in the last four months than in all of 2025. Special attention is paid to fiber-optic drones, as well as medium-range drones used for striking logistics and supply lines in the occupied territories.

According to the Ukrainian minister, the number of contracted medium-range drones has already tripled last year's figures, and their purchase continues.

A similar statement was previously made by Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, known by the call sign "Madyar". He asserted that Ukrainian units are intensifying strikes on transport routes used to supply Russian troops in Crimea and the occupied territories of southern Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian side, hundreds of strikes have been carried out in recent months against cargo trucks, fuel tankers, and other transport. A significant portion of these strikes targeted the so-called "land corridor" connecting Russia to Crimea through the occupied territories of Ukraine.

It was also previously reported about damage to the Chonhar bridge, which is one of the key routes connecting to Crimea. After this, Russian authorities proposed using bypass routes through Armiansk and Perekop. Additionally, damage to infrastructure at the Dzhankoy checkpoint was reported.
