Andrii Sybiha refers to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya as "the leader of Belarusian democratic forces". He emphasizes:
"Ukraine clearly distinguishes between the Lukashenka regime, which dragged Belarus into the Russian war, and the Belarusian people, who deserve freedom. […]
Looking to the future, we see a free, democratic Belarus that will join the Lublin Triangle together with Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania."
The Ukrainian minister also expressed profound gratitude on behalf of Ukraine to Belarusian volunteers, "more than 90 of whom gave their lives fighting alongside Ukrainians against Russian imperialism."
"There will be no impunity: the Lukashenka regime bears full joint responsibility for the aggression against Ukraine. We discussed joint efforts to collect evidence for a Special Tribunal in The Hague, as well as holding the regime accountable for crimes against Ukrainian children.
In addition, I received a new package of sanctions proposals from our Belarusian guests, which I intend to submit to the EU level.
Our nations will also intensify cooperation in humanitarian and informational spheres, including joint resistance to Russification and support for the Belarusian language," Andrii Sybiha noted.
"As a touching reminder of our deep roots, we presented our guests with archival diplomatic documents of the Ukrainian and Belarusian People's Republics. These records prove that our states had close official and human ties even before the Soviet Union," the minister concluded in his post.
