In Minsk, five apartments were sold at auction last year due to debts
Each month, more than a thousand apartments in Minsk are affected by non-payment of housing and utility services, and the debt can ultimately even lead to the loss of housing. Anastasiya Hvozdik, head of the department for collecting accounts receivable at the "Unified Settlement and Information Center" branch of the Minsk City Executive Committee, told Minsk-News about this.
New Year's holidays without electricity, specifically disconnected due to non-payment, were experienced by residents of 981 apartments in the capital, and without water by 60. Moreover, in case of electricity and water supply disconnection due to arrears in utility payments, it is not possible to call an emergency brigade for reconnection, as the addresses of non-payers are forwarded to the 115 service.
After that, the restoration of utility services is resumed within no more than two days.
As of January 1, 2026, there are 45,409 accounts with overdue debt in Minsk. For most of them (74.07% of the total), non-payment amounts to one billing period. 5,148 payers have debt for two periods, and 1,437 for three. Utility services have not been paid for four to five months on 993 accounts, and for six months to one year on 1,435.
The most malicious defaulters include 2,763 homeowners from whom payments have not been received for more than one year.

Hvozdik reported. — Thus, five apartments and three shares in apartments were sold at auction. It is worth noting that for many debtor-owners, this measure became an incentive for the earliest possible repayment of debt.
