Another 1500 video surveillance cameras to be installed in Gomel region

The Gomel region plans to increase the number of video surveillance cameras by almost 20%, writes the "Flagshtok" publication.

Currently, about 8,000 cameras operate in the region, and over 1,500 more are planned to be installed in the near future. Some of the equipment has face and license plate recognition functions.

Cameras installed in cafes, shops, concert halls, and enterprises are also connected to the common system. Thus, the video surveillance network gradually covers more and more public facilities.

According to the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, thanks to the system, 340 crimes have already been solved. However, officials did not specify how many of the solved cases were related to political motives.
