This year, the Academy introduced a new category for the first time – "Best Casting". Nominated films in this category are: "Hamnet", "Marty the Wonderful", "Battle for Battle", "Secret Agent" and "Sinners". From 2028, the Oscars will feature another new category for Best Stunt Coordination.
The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 15, and will once again be hosted by American comedian Conan O'Brien.
This year, the American Film Academy introduced new voting rules. Jury members voting in a particular category were required to either watch all presented films on the organization's streaming service or fill out a form detailing their attendance at a cinema screening.
In the past, voters were always asked not to vote if they had not watched all the nominees' works, but this process was based purely on honesty.
According to the organizers' plan, such measures should reduce the number of cases where jury members vote based not on the works themselves, but on the general buzz surrounding them.
