Popularity of "Alternative for Germany" Reached 30% for the First Time
The popularity of the right-wing populist party "Alternative for Germany" for the first time reached 30% across Germany. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the sociological institute INSA commissioned by the Bild newspaper.

Compared to the previous week, support for AfD increased by one percentage point to 30%. At the same time, support for the ruling CDU/CSU bloc decreased by one point — to 18%. Thus, the difference between these political forces increased to 12 percentage points. For CDU and CSU, the result of 18% was the lowest in history.
The Social Democratic Party of Germany retained 14% support and now lags behind the CDU/CSU by four points. The "Greens" lost one point and also have 14%. The "Left" maintained a figure of 10%.
The BSW party, formerly known as the "Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance", increased support from 3% to 4%. The Free Democratic Party remained at 4%. Thus, both parties still do not overcome the five-percent hurdle required to enter the Bundestag.
The INSA survey was conducted from September 28 to October 2. It involved 1202 voters, who were surveyed by phone and online.
Currently, a crisis situation has escalated in Germany within the CDU/CSU and SPD coalition. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was forced to intervene in disputes between government coalition partners, as he expressed concern about its future.
Other surveys also showed a low level of satisfaction with the work of Chancellor Friedrich Merz. According to another recent study, if elections to the Bundestag were held next Sunday, AfD would receive the most support in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is Merz's home state.
