The creation of a new higher education institution was the topic of a meeting with Lukashenka today, August 4, writes BelTA.
Lukashenka announced the creation of a fundamentally new educational environment — flexible, interdisciplinary, outcome-oriented, and focused on the country's needs.
«We cannot allow this center, Academy, or university to become an ordinary higher education institution and merely a diploma provider. It should train specialists capable of creating their own solutions in the most promising fields. As it is now fashionable to say, in the sphere of artificial intelligence, new materials, digital industry, quantum technologies,» he noted.
As Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets said, the full implementation of the Academy's experimental programs will only be possible with the selection of motivated and talented individuals. According to experts, with mass recruitment, these experimental programs will not yield the proper effect.
«We need to open doors for college graduates, for those young men and women who are already studying at universities today, have distinguished themselves, and want to transfer to this new educational center. Such a trajectory is also provided for in the draft decree,» emphasized the Minister of Education.
He explained that students who wish to enroll in the center will need to pass an interview and an internal exam.
«We must take winners of international and national olympiads directly from school, to avoid losing time when they might hesitate: choose a domestic educational institution or go to another university», — added Andrei Ivanets.
