"I melt, losing my head strongly in embraces." A Belarusian-language summer track with a viral chorus has been released
Musician Uladź Lepiašynski (uladz) has released a new track "ya tayu" (I melt). Seemingly light indie-pop with a viral chorus, it actually tells the story of a deep personal farewell to Minsk.
The song's presentation took place on July 30 at Karma Crew bar in Warsaw.
This is already the third track in the 29-year-old singer's solo project. Before this were the melancholic "z taboy" (with you) and an ironic feature with Marazm Arkadzya "cache clip". As Uladź explains on his social media, the new track sounds like it's about a relationship with a girl, but in reality, it's about his love for Minsk and the relationships that happened there, as well as a farewell to the city.
Uladź was born in the small town of Barań in the Viciebsk region. He performed in various projects. One of them is the band "Lepšy Kvas" (Best Kvass), where he was the frontman and guitarist. The band was formed in 2015 and filled concert halls of 150 people. Uladź also recorded joint tracks with LEAR, where he performed not only as a vocalist but also as a music producer. Now, the young man is focusing primarily on the project "Baču ŭpieršyniu" (Seeing for the First Time).
The new single "ya tayu" (I melt) was co-created with sound producer Illia Famin. In the song's video, Uladź dances with friends on the streets of Warsaw.
There's also a folk-style version of the track — Uladź loves experiments and irony.
The young man works in video production — he films, edits, and color-grades. This background is reflected in his music. For example, the previous song "cache clip" was a direct reference to video editing software — past relationships were compared to a technical cache folder that you see but can no longer use.
As for the musical content, the performer himself admits on Instagram that he is a big fan of the popular band "Nervy." Listeners often notice that his style and delivery echo the work of Ženia Milkoŭski, which Uladź himself is very happy about. At the same time, his playlist contains a lot of current Belarusian music, and among his young colleagues, he particularly highlights the projects Navalach and Samota, calling them a "fresh breath" on the modern scene.
In February 2021, the musician fell victim to a wave of repressions — he was detained during a raid on an underground concert by the band "Razbitaje serca pacana" (Broken Boy's Heart) at a recreation base near Smaliavičy.
Besides music and video, Uladź runs a Twitch channel (ulaadzik.clip), where instead of games, he hosts cultural streams with Belarusian figures — he invents a track from scratch with singer Samota, cooks macanka with Aunt Ira, or makes pancakes during Mandzik's live set.
