Rogachev activist Denis Dashkevich accused of preparing an assassination attempt on Tsikhanouskaya's children

The propaganda Telegram channel Sprava, founded by Roman Protasevich, claims that Rogachev activist Denis Dashkevich was allegedly preparing an assassination attempt on Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's children. It was about this "prepared terrorist act", according to the channel, that the Belarusian Foreign Ministry warned the Polish side.

The channel states that Dashkevich allegedly planned to kill Tsikhanouskaya's children "by the hands of Ukrainians", after which he would "make a political statement and commit suicide".

Sprava also claims that Polish authorities recognized Dashkevich as a threat to national security and initiated his deportation procedure. According to the channel, he sought help from Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and democratic forces but received no support.

According to information from Reform.news, the Polish Office for Foreigners did indeed initiate proceedings to revoke Denis Dashkevich's refugee status at the request of the Internal Security Agency (ABW). This is evidenced by documents obtained by the editorial office.

According to a notice dated May 18, 2026, the proceedings were initiated at the request of the ABW. The document states that the agency must verify "whether the circumstances on the basis of which refugee status was granted still exist".

However, the notice does not disclose the reasons for the ABW's appeal and does not bring any accusations against Dashkevich.

As part of the procedure, Polish authorities required him to provide written explanations.

In particular, Dashkevich must report:

• where he resided after receiving refugee status in Poland;
• what he did after receiving this status;
• information about his criminal record in Poland and other European Union countries.

In addition, the Office for Foreigners offered him to state the reasons why he should not be deprived of refugee status.

The department allowed seven days from the date of receiving the letter to prepare written explanations. The response had to be sent to the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw.

According to preliminary information, the Office decided to revoke Dashkevich's refugee status. He is currently free.

Tsikhanouskaya's Office commented on the situation and called it a provocation.

"We regularly receive various kinds of threats. In this way, the regime deliberately tries to intimidate representatives of the democratic movement, as well as to put pressure on countries that have accepted Belarusians. Sometimes the regime's special services exploit the vulnerable situation of Belarusians who find themselves in difficult life circumstances due to repression.

Specifically in this case, we have no additional information other than what was published by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry and pro-government propaganda channels. This looks like another provocation on their part. We did not maintain contact with this person, and the legal team also did not receive any appeals from him," Tsikhanouskaya's Office stated.

Denis Dashkevich is the founder of the regional resource "Rogachev Online". In 2022, he left Belarus for Poland.

In 2023, he was fined in absentia in an administrative case for disseminating "extremist materials" for a photograph of Polish President Andrzej Duda against the background of a flag used during Polish-Hungarian friendship events in 2016. The flag is a white-red-white canvas with an image of two trees in the center.

In 2023, Dashkevich stated that he had sent a letter to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry renouncing his Belarusian citizenship.
