The world's most popular YouTuber got married on a private Caribbean island
American content creator MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, married his fiancée Thea Booysen. According to American media reports, the wedding took place on Necker Island, a private island owned by British billionaire Richard Branson. The island is located in the British Virgin Islands, writes the BBC.
The 28-year-old YouTuber announced his marriage in a joint Instagram post with his wife. The couple published photos from their wedding day and wrote that he "found MrsBeast."
MrBeast is considered the most popular YouTuber in the world. His channel has over 509 million subscribers.
Donaldson proposed to Thea Booysen on Christmas 2024. At the time, they were wearing matching festive sweaters with the MrBeast logo. Earlier, the YouTuber told People magazine that he wanted to propose in a completely private and intimate setting, and to have a modest wedding despite his global fame.
The published photos show Booysen in a long lace dress with a floral pattern on her wedding day, while Donaldson wore a white tuxedo. During the celebration, the bride changed outfits several times: for cutting the wedding cake, she chose a short white dress with a sparkly top and a feather-decorated skirt, and for the evening part of the celebration, a satin off-the-shoulder dress.
MrBeast called the day "the best day of his life."
Jimmy Donaldson gained worldwide fame through viral videos, large-scale experiments, giveaways, and competitions with substantial cash prizes. In his videos, he often gives away significant amounts of money to participants and strangers.
In addition to YouTube, he participated in the creation of the reality show "Beast Games" for the Prime Video platform. The program was inspired by the popular Netflix series "Squid Game." Participants in the show compete for a grand prize of $5 million.
Thea Booysen is from South Africa. She also runs her own YouTube channel, TheaBeasty, which has about 140,000 subscribers. MrBeast also hosts popular gaming streams on the Twitch platform.
However, Donaldson's career has not been without controversy. A former employee of his media company, Beast Industries, sued, accusing the company of sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the workplace.
Participants in the "Beast Games" show also filed lawsuits regarding the terms of participation in the project. Additionally, MrBeast has faced accusations that some of his viral contests and giveaways may have been pre-staged.
