Belarus has started supplying fuel to Kyrgyzstan, which faced a shortage of petroleum products after Russian oil refineries were hit by Ukrainian attacks. Along with Belarus, China is also providing assistance to the country.
According to Kyrgyzstan's Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov, the first batches of Belarusian fuels and lubricants have already arrived in the country, and several more railway wagons are on their way. He reported that the issue of transit through Russian territory is fully resolved, and supplies are carried out in accordance with the signed agreement.
China has also already sent its first batch of fuel. It is being delivered to Kyrgyzstan by road transport. To expedite its import, the country's government has instructed state bodies to organize a simplified border crossing procedure for such cargo.
Previously, Kyrgyzstan received a significant portion of its fuel from Russia. However, after supply disruptions, the country's authorities began seeking alternative suppliers. Besides Belarus and China, possibilities for importing from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan were also considered.
To stabilize the situation, Kyrgyzstan introduced a temporary ban on fuel exports outside the country, and also simplified the procedure for its import from abroad.
