The incident occurred on highway R-27 "Braslaŭ — Pastavy — Miadzel". Traffic police inspectors noticed a Fiat vehicle and signaled the driver to stop. However, the driver ignored the requirement and continued moving.
A pursuit began. According to the traffic police, the driver repeatedly received demands to stop, but did not react to them and continued to attempt to escape. In the video footage from the scene, one of the inspectors can be heard warning: "Stop, I'm going to shoot at the tires," but the car continued moving.
Since the driver's behavior, according to police assessment, posed a threat to other road users, traffic police officers decided to use their service weapons and opened fire on the car's tires.
After the car was stopped, it was found that a 17-year-old local resident, who did not have the right to drive a vehicle, was behind the wheel. His peer, who was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, was also in the cabin.
Seven administrative protocols were drawn up against the underage driver, including for disobeying the demands of police officers. The collected materials were handed over to the commission for juvenile affairs.
