"Unacceptable and Deeply Troubling Words." Israel's MFA Issues Protest Over Lukashenka's Statements

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, in its official X (social network) account, reacted to Alexander Lukashenka's statements in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel, which were deemed antisemitic in the Jewish state.

"These remarks, made by the President of Belarus — a country that knows all too well the horrors of the Holocaust perpetrated on its own land — in his interview with Al Arabiya TV channel, are unacceptable and deeply troubling.

Any comparisons between the Holocaust of the Jewish people and Israel's just war against terrorism must be categorically rejected.

Equally appalling is the resurgence of vile, outdated antisemitic conspiracy theories that should have long ago faded into history," stated the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Prior to this, Alexander Lukashenka stated in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel that Israel should be more cautious in its actions in the context of the current Middle East conflict.

He also criticized Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip, stating that mass casualties among the civilian population, including women and children, have negatively impacted attitudes towards Israel worldwide.

"Therefore, Israel needs to be more careful, more cautious here. They have already received such a rating in the world community that there's nowhere lower to go, having bombed Gaza. Many even looked at history and said: 'What Holocaust?! What kind of Holocaust can there be, which Israelis talked about, when they killed so many people, and primarily women and children?' — noted Lukashenka. — 'Everything there has been wiped off the face of the earth. They are going to build some resort on people's bones. This is complete nonsense.'"

Concluding his tirade, Lukashenka advised the Israeli leadership "to come to their senses" and think about the future of their state. According to him, further escalation of the conflict could lead to severe consequences, and even the presence of nuclear weapons does not guarantee the country's security.

He also mentioned Israel, recalling the initial stage of the full-scale war in Ukraine launched by Russia with its (Belarus's) own support. He accused the Jewish state of allegedly, along with the Vatican at the time, hindering the achievement of peace, which Putin was supposedly ready to accept, but he was deceived:

"Once again, probably — I know — these forces deceived him. It was the Vatican. And, surprisingly, the Jewish lobby, the Israelis. They, on behalf of Zelenskyy, declared: 'That's it, we're going for peace, we agree.' Well, and others."
