The document that temporarily eased restrictions on Russian oil supplies ceased to be effective on June 17. The U.S. President stated that Washington's further decisions on sanctions will depend on the situation in the global oil market. Donald Trump said at the G7 summit that he is considering the possibility of re-imposing sanctions against Russia, writes CNN.

According to the American president, the decision on this issue will depend on oil prices.

“We’ll see how much the price of oil falls. It’s really falling,” Trump said. On June 17, the general license from the U.S. Treasury Department expired, which allowed for the completion of deliveries of Russian oil and oil products loaded onto vessels before April 17.

The temporary easing came into effect in March and was extended twice — in April and May. Washington explained the issuance of the license by the energy crisis that began after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz was introduced.

However, already in April, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the license would not be extended. Energy Minister Chris Wright expressed a similar position at the time.

The Kremlin, commenting on the situation, stated that they had expected such a decision from Washington and that Russia had adapted to the restrictions, writes RBC.
