Lavrov called the European countries' proposal on Ukraine an ultimatum
European countries have presented Russia with an ultimatum on Ukraine, proposing to agree to an immediate ceasefire, start peace talks, and compensate Kyiv for the damage caused, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

«Trust cannot be restored, and dialogue cannot be resumed with ultimatums like the one presented to Russia in London on June 7,» Lavrov wrote in an article titled «Ukraine, Europe, and Global Security.»
According to him, European countries are pushing for a speedy ceasefire to «prevent the collapse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front,» to «freeze» the military conflict «without eliminating its root causes,» and to introduce their military contingents into Ukraine. «United Europe continues to dream of expansion, intends to develop Ukraine and Moldova, and draws Armenia into its orbit,» Lavrov noted.
He also emphasized that Ukraine is considered the «strike force» of future European armed forces.
«Such a situation carries serious risks for global security, as a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia could quickly escalate into an exchange of nuclear strikes with catastrophic consequences,» the head of the Foreign Ministry warned.
