Former Liverpool, Newcastle, Southampton, Hamburg forward and England national team player, two-time 'Ballon d'Or' winner, 75-year-old Kevin Keegan spoke about his battle with a serious illness, writes sports.ru.
In January, Newcastle announced that the former footballer had been diagnosed with cancer. Keegan has now revealed that the disease is at stage 4.
"I was in a car accident, and because of that, I had to have surgery. During a pre-operative examination, they found cancer. I was told there was a very highly qualified doctor who deals with my disease – stage four cancer.
And I went to see him. He's a Liverpool fan, so I knew I wouldn't be alone. He said: 'Kevin, this is a new treatment method, and it has shown an excellent effectiveness rate.' I asked: 'What's the effectiveness rate?' He replied: '33%.' I thought it would be 80-90%. No, 33%!
For now, I'm still here," Keegan said.
