Why did Zelensky write a letter to Putin?

The idea to write a letter to Russian leader Vladimir Putin recently emerged for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. And there are reasons for this, a source in the team of the Ukrainian president told "RBC-Ukraine" publication.

"The President came up with this before the start of the forum in St. Petersburg and on the eve of some of his meetings in Europe," a source told "RBC-Ukraine".

Regarding the fact that Putin is unlikely to constructively react to Zelensky's proposal to sit down at the negotiating table and agree on peace, considering his latest statements, the team of the President of Ukraine takes this calmly.

"Let him speak. Putin will see one thing there, Russians another, partners a third. What's important is that the content of the letter goes to Russia, first and foremost to those influential groups there," a source told "RBC-Ukraine".

On the evening of June 4, on the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine, an open letter from Zelensky to Putin was published. In the letter, the Ukrainian president proposes to the Russian counterpart to meet in a third country to agree on a long-term peace. According to Zelensky, Ukraine is ready to cease fire for the duration of these negotiations. The Ukrainian side also proposes exchanging prisoners in an "all for all" format, which would be a significant prelude to ending the war.

The Kremlin stated that they had already seen Zelensky's letter, but it had not yet been shown to Putin. At the same time, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that if Zelensky is truly interested in a meeting, he can come to Moscow.

А в бункері путін не має доступу до інтернету.
